Wellness & Nutrition

Wellness
In order to ensure the health of our entire camp family, Camp Wah-Nee has a 24/7 doctor and nurse-staffed, modern Health Center that is clean, bright and air conditioned. The Health Center is equipped with exam rooms, extended stay rooms and an inpatient lounge area.

We have partnered with Hartford Healthcare/Go Health for when urgent care is needed. Our Health Center has the ability to have immediate virtual visits with Go Health as well as priority access to in-person visits at their urgent care centers. In addition, should the need arise, Charlotte Hungerford Hospital is only 15 minutes away from our campus. Our leadership team, Health Center staff and coordinator, are ready to take great care of our entire Wah-Nee family all summer long.

Nutrition

At Wah-Nee, our goal is to provide nutritious and well-balanced meals that our campers and staff will enjoy eating while also giving them the energy that’s needed to have days full of fun and spirit.

Our campers eat family style with their divisions - campers and counselors—and are served by waiters and waitresses. The entire camp eats meals together, allowing all our boys and girls to build camp spirit as a family. The Camp Wah-Nee dining hall is always full of cheers, and even the occasional spontaneous dance party, with the Wah-Nee magic always on display!

Each meal provides plenty of options for our campers and has an emphasis on quality and fresh, local produce. Breakfast includes hot items such as waffles, scrambled eggs, and pancakes with options for oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, toast, cereal, milk and juices. Sunday breakfast is always special with bagels and lox. Lunch and Dinner always include salad bars, featuring lettuce, fresh cut vegetables, tuna salad, hummus and a variety of toppings in addition to our main offering each day. Pasta, plain or with cheese, is also always offered.

Special Dietary Requirements

Camp Wah-Nee is equipped to manage many dietary requirements for our campers and staff with food allergies. We routinely accommodate our campers that are gluten-free including those with Celiac Disease, and are versed in serving these meals separately and appropriately. For unique needs, please contact us.

Please be aware that we are not a nut-free facility, but do have successful campers with this allergy.
